Garingani wa garingani - a prologue to the most interesting story of your life. A Xitsonga equivalent of the isiZulu and English ‘Kwasuka sukela’ and ‘Once upon a
time’ introductions to traditional folk tales told across generations. It usually stirs an emphatic response from the listener to echo – Garingani. Garingani wa garingani –
Garingani!
We believe in the power of story-telling and are committed to be a vehicle of telling our very own African stories using this powerful medium of photography.
Your partner in capturing, what would otherwise be an ordinary event, into a gallery of special moments and relationships we share with families, friends and loved ones - memorable stories.
We work a lot with young people and an interesting question recently has been around our reasoning for choosing to go into what they label as a ‘fading industry’. “Almost everyone has a camera phone and are not really seeing the need for professional photos to be taken", she said, "so what makes you go into an industry like photography.”.
We want people to be able to relate photos we capture with
specific events/ milestones in their lives. They essentially should tell a
story of their milestones, achievements – their life and times that they can reflect
on to remember a smile from a friend, a reaction from the pastor or the long
lost relative who they have not seen in awhile.
So, Garingani wa Garingani..!
